Foster Care Documents

Join our Foster Care Team.
Thank you for your interest in learning more about foster care and adoption with Family & Children Services. Michigan Child Placing Agency Rules require that all prospective foster parents or adoptive parents attend an orientation meeting prior to completing an application. Family & Children Services provides prospective foster and adoptive families with a 2-step orientation process. 

We can get you started!
To start the process of becoming a foster or adoptive parent, please follow the steps below:
1. Watch all 4 Orientation I Video Segments
2. Click on the Orientation Video - Discussion Questions
3. Print and complete all Orientation Video - Discussion Questions
4. Choose an Orientation II date from the schedules on the right
5. Contact Michelle Crawford at 269.373.0248 ext. 270 to reserve your spot in the Orientation II of your choice
6. Bring your completed Orientation Video - Discussion Questions to Orientation II
7. Attend Orientation

Services provided to foster families
• Fostering Footnotes, a quarterly newsletter, is mailed to your home, can be emailed to you, or viewed on our website
• On-going case management services
• Staff support, including a 24-hour emergency on-call
• Foster Parent Support Group
• Mileage reimbursement
• HANDLE WITH CARE - a specialized fund to meet children's critical needs that cannot be met by any other funding source
• Children's Medical Needs Fund
• Case-aide support
• Transportation and mileage reimbursement is available
